Sourdough attempt #1: a dense, delicious failure

They said sourdough was a journey. They did not say the first stop would be a loaf you could use as a doorstop.

What happened

The starter was lively, the dough was… less so. Pretty sure I under-proofed it, over-flour-ed it, and opened the oven twice like an amateur (I am an amateur).

Next time

  • Trust the poke test, not the clock.
  • Buy a banneton instead of the “bowl with a tea towel” method.
  • Breann gets veto power over the 6am bake schedule.
